Ad Trip ("the app") helps you plan road trips in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, the
United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Malaysia. This policy explains what
the app collects, why, and how to get rid of it. It covers the Android app and the web version at
traveller-s-compass-8d356.web.app.
| Data | Why | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Your phone number | It is how you sign in. We send a one-time code to verify it. We do not use it for marketing and we do not send you promotional messages. | Firebase Authentication (Google) |
| Trip history — the routes you planned, their distance, and the regions they crossed | To show your recent searches and trip statistics, and to bring them back when you sign in on another device. | Cloud Firestore (Google), plus a copy on your device |
| Saved vehicles — the nickname, type and mileage you enter | To estimate fuel cost without asking you again each time. | Cloud Firestore (Google), plus a copy on your device |
| Recent searches and app preferences (default vehicle, notification toggles, theme, and any fuel price you set) | To keep the app set up the way you left it. | Cloud Firestore (Google), plus a copy on your device |
| Places you search for and the start/end points of routes you request | Sent to Google Maps Platform to return routes, places and elevation data. We do not store these separately from the trip history above. | Processed by Google Maps Platform |
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) as our processor. Route, place and elevation lookups are sent to Google Maps Platform to be answered. Map tiles are served by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Each of these receives only what is needed to answer the request. We do not share your data with anyone else, except where we are legally required to.
Your data is held under your account and protected by Firestore security rules that permit access only to requests carrying your own verified sign-in token. No other user of the app can read your data.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and it is removed — see below.
You can delete your account and everything stored with it at any time:
This erases your Firestore record — trip history, saved vehicles, recent searches and preferences — and your Firebase Authentication account, including your phone number. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Routine backups are purged on Google's standard rolling schedule.
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how your data is used, notify you in the app.
